Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts submitted to Physical Education and Sports: Studies and Research (PESSR) undergo a double-anonymized peer review.
  • Each submission is first assessed by the Editor to determine its suitability for the journal.
  • Manuscripts deemed appropriate are typically sent to at least two independent expert reviewers who evaluate:
    • originality,
    • methodological soundness,
    • clarity and quality of presentation,
    • significance and relevance to the social sciences of sport.
  • The Editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.

Evaluation criteria:

Reviewers are asked to comment on ( YES/NO/ Not applicable):

  • Does the manuscript contain new and significant information to justify publication?
  • Does the introduction provide sufficient scientific background and include all relevant references?
  • Are the results clearly presented?
  • Does the Abstract (Summary) clearly and accurately describe the content of the article?
  • Is the problem significant and concisely stated?
  • Are the methods described comprehensively?
  • Are the interpretations and conclusions justified by the results?
  • Is adequate reference made to other work in the field?
  • Is the language acceptable?

Reviewers may recommend one of the following:

  • Accept without changes
  • Minor revision

Revision Policy

  • Authors submitting a revised manuscript must highlight all changes made in response to reviewers’ comments (tracked changes are not accepted).
  • A separate response-to-reviewers document must be submitted, addressing each comment in detail.

Proofs

  • After acceptance, authors will receive proofs. Corrections must be returned within fourteen working days to ensure timely publication.

The decision acceptance for publication, amendment, or rejection will be made by the Editors according to reviewers' comments or recommendations. In certain cases, if needed, the editor may send the manuscript to another reviewer for review (Second Round) before making a decision. Publication of accepted manuscripts, including the sequence of published manuscripts, will be made by the Editor in Chief by considering the sequence of accepted dates and geographical distribution of authors, as well as thematic issues. It normally takes about 2 to 3 months from submission to publication, with an average of 2 months.
